Cloud computing relies on transferring the burden of providing IT services (data, software or processing power) onto a server and allowing constant access by client computers. Security does not depend on what happens to the client computer, and the pace of processes comes from the computing power of the server. To start using the cloud, all we need to do is log in from any computer with internet access. This eliminates the need to buy a license or install and administer the software.
Typical models of cloud services include:
- IAAS – infrastructure as a service – the service provider obliges to provide IT infrastructure
- PAAS – platform as a service – the service provider offers the complete work environment
- SAAS – software as a service – the service provider shares software and the applications used are only rented.
