Robot supply has developed multiple models. Their creation included both the interest of the customers and developers. But it is not just financial factors that affect the form in which robots are available. Easy access to offered solutions or the possibility of their development is also important. To meet these requirements, a platform was needed – one that allows creating and sharing new solutions based on the existing ones – as it greatly increases the dynamic of progress and enables testing new robots as well as their uses.

As it turned out, the cloud was the perfect place for making such a platform available.

Placing robots(as a service) in the cloud enabled their fluent integration with devices and applications in the cloud environment.

The history of this approach to providing virtual robots goes back to 2006. That is when a solution was first presented,  in which the robot was a client of the service, using selected web services on external websites.

Today RaaS as a platform in the cloud is the service provider, the broker and the client. This means it includes services used to perform functions(robots), a service catalogue for searching and publishing(a possibility of using solutions created by external programmers for their own ends and later published in a widely available catalogue) and an interface allowing user feedback.

In practice, this means a library(repository) of pre-made solutions is provided (service provision). Any user with access to the service can use pre-made solutions or delete unnecessary functionalities.

The customer can also compose a new application(functionality) relying on services available on the platform and beyond it. Created this way, a new solution joins the catalogue available to their users – that is the role of RaaS as a broker.

RaaS services can communicate with drivers and elements of customers OS, which in turn link with other hardware elements. RaaS robots can directly communicate with one another wirelessly.

Cloud solutions are currently a rapidly developing segment of service provision.

Exceptionally easy access to websites, dynamic development, a possibility of configuring for specific needs and constantly improved security solutions protecting both from data loss and unauthorized access render this model extremely advantageous.

RPA in RaaS form should particularly fit customers that are already used to services in the cloud, for who this way of storing and processing data is already a standard present in their organization.
